The regional centre of HGL is located in the Debrecen International Airport Cargo Handling Facility.
Debrecen Airport (DEB) is the second international airport of Hungary.
It is well equipped and ready to handle high volumes of cargo. HGL Operates a ULD handling, air cargo warehouse in the first line handling buildings of the cargo centre at DEB Airport. As one of the largest most highly certified and licensed customs Brokers in Hungary, HGL holds numerous local licenses and permits which enable us to offer a wide range of customs clearance services on a 24hour non stop basis.
In November 2024, the airport was officially certified as an “injection point” by our Chinese partners.
Debrecen International Airport - New Injection Point
The “injection point” is a strategic logistics point that enables the rapid and direct distribution of e-commerce goods to international and regional markets. The transformation of Debrecen Airport into a cargo hub is the result of exemplary cooperation between the Hungarian government, the airport management and HGL. We are particularly proud of this recognition as we have played a key role in achieving such a prestigious status for the airport.

The e-commerce clearance certification process was assisted by HGL, as a key partner to the Airport Management, Hajdu Bihar County Customs Directorate, and the Ministry of National Economics.
HGL transported several tons of imported cross-border e-commerce goods from our hub at Budapest Airport to Debrecen, creating a simulation of the whole process of receiving, customs clearance, and distribution under real conditions. This complex test, which required significant resources, was key to Debrecen Airport achieving the “injection point” certification from Asian suppliers.
As a result of the successful test, our Chinese partners have decided with confidence that Debrecen Airport will be able to receive cargo flights from Asia on a weekly basis from November 2024.

Why is this beneficial for our customers?
The new status of Debrecen Airport brings a number of benefits for HGL customers:
- Faster delivery times: E-commerce goods arrive directly in Debrecen, which may be closer tot he final destination of the products in Centra & Eastern Europe. This means that goods can be delivered to the end-user faster. It is also a definate increase in Hungary’s air craft receiving capacity.
- Cost efficiency: new logistical routes and direct cargo flights will reduce transport costs, which will be directly experienced by our partners.
- Regional reach: from the HGL headquarters in Debrecen, not only Hungary, but the entire Central and Eastern European region can be served more efficiently, creating better business opportunities for our customers.
- Scalability and flexibility: the new capacities will enable HGL to handle even higher volumes of shipments, which are most important during peak seasonal periods (e.g. Black Friday, Christmas period).
