HGL Group hosts a CEO meeting and cargo infrastructure tour at Budapest Airport with MVÜK

On November 10 the HGL Group hosted a business meeting at Budapest Airport, followed by an exclusive airport tour. Around 30 business leaders were present at the unusual professional event, who were able to learn about current market trends and the entire process of air freight. The event was addressed by members of the Airports’ senior leadership, and also attended by Celebi Ground Handling and Budapest Airport cargo managers.

The logistics business event, which was hosted by the HGL Group in cooperation with the Business Association of Hungarian Business Managers (MVÜK), was held at Liszt Ferenc International Airport with the participation of nearly 30 business executives.

The event commenced in the CEO’s meeting room in the Patina building of the historically listed Ferihegy Airport Terminal 1, where the guests were greeted by René Droese, the Chief Development Officer / Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Budapest Airport Zrt.

The meeting started with a comprehensive professional briefing during which József Kossuth, Cargo Director of Budapest Airport Zrt., reported on the current state of air cargo transport in Central and Eastern Europe. Using the latest data, József Kossuth emphasized Budapest’s strategic role, with the Hungarian capital now considered as a very serious player on the air freight map of Europe.

The host of the event, Paul Szeman, spoke to those present not only about the characteristics of the logistics market, but also about the HGL Group’s corporate culture. The owner of the Budapest Airport based company proudly stated that in recent years the HGL Group has become one of the most dynamically developing Hungarian-owned companies in the international logistics market.

According to Paul Szeman, the company owes its success and continual growth to the professionalism of its employees and to the fact that profit is primarily seen as a tool for reinvestment into excellence, focused on quality, efficiency, and expansion of the range of services provided to the HGL Group’s customers.

“We see real value in people. Primarily in our employees and our customers,”said the owner of the HGL Group. He added: “We are aware that profit and human quality go hand in hand. Therefore, we strive to make sure that our employees enjoy working for us and take pride in their profession, since they represent the HGL Group brand in dealing with our customers and partners. The future of the company depends on them”.

Paul Szeman is convinced that the company owes its success in large part to this philosophy, and that this is the reason why their expanding base of customers can confidently rely on a high level of service, delivered cost effectively.

The professional briefing part of the event ended with a presentation by László Trifán, Cargo Manager of Celebi Ground Handling Hungary Kft., in which he spoke about the specialties of ground handling.

and Hungary’s new air cargo center

For the second half of the event, Paul Szeman, the leader of the HGL Group, invited the participants to an exclusive behind-the-scenes viewing of the Airport’s cargo handling facilities. Those company executives who were interested in logistics services took part in an exciting guided tour where they could learn about the day-to-day operation of Budapest airport. As part of this they were given access to restricted areas normally closed to the public.

The event attendees could observe the arrival of cargo, sorting of packages, customs clearance, and the complete process of shipping at peak times, right in the middle of actual work processes being performed. Interaction developed between event participants and airport staff and managers during the tour, and the information and perspectives shared gave the participants the opportunity to better understand the dynamics of the air freight sector and the business opportunities that lie ahead.

“The objective of the HGL Group in hosting this event was for company managers with logistics and operational interests to get to know and understand the operation and dynamics of the air freight logistics sector as best as possible”, Paul Szeman commented. “This is fundamentally what business events like this are all about”.

The HGL Group works to provide services delivering predictable and positive business results for our customers and partners. We are grateful to everyone who participated in this great event and thereby contributed to the development of the logistics industry in Hungary.
