The Debrecen Table Tennis Club (DAK-DEAC HGL) closed out last year with great performances.
The 2023 season brought outstanding successes and significant development for the junior age group. The club’s young athletes showed that future champions are being raised in Debrecen. HGL will continue to sponsor the club in 2024.
During the year, the club’s calendar included several major tournaments where the young talents of DAK-DEAC HGL competed, with the club’s young athletes winning medals at both national and international competitions.
- At the end of March, DAK-DEAC athletes competed against 280 competitors from 9 countries in a three-day tournament in Újszentes.
- In May, the club’s competitors won a significant number of gold medals at the international junior team and individual competition in Arad. This competition was a high level test of strength with 160 participants from six countries (Serbia, Germany, Italy, Moldova, Romania and Hungary).
- In June, Debrecen hosted the Women’s Extra League Final Four for the first time with the support of HGL Group.
- In July, the youngsters competed in Tasnád in the “Without Borders” junior table tennis tournament.
- In November, three players from DAK-DEAC took part in the Aladár Dobolyi Aladár Memorial Tournament in Tirgu Mures.
- In mid-December, the U13 boys and girls competed in the national tournament.
- At the end of December, the U15 girls and boys took part in the national championship at the Ormai László Table Tennis Hall.
In total, the young athletes won 18 gold, 18 silver and 35 bronze medals in 2023.
In 2023, Debrecen Table Tennis Club’s junior athletes proved once again that a combination of hard work, dedication and the right support can lead to success.
HGL gets behind young sporting talent
The HGL Group is the named sponsor of the Debrecen club, as the logistics company is actively involved in the development of young talent. The support provided by the company enables the athletes to prepare and compete in the best conditions and to have access to the most modern training methods and equipment.
The Debrecen club’s youngsters not only won medals and glory in 2023, but also proved that a future generation is ready to continue the club’s tradition and continue building the reputation of table tennis in Debrecen – said Paul Szemán.
The head of HGL Group added that the logistics company believes that HGL’s commitment is a key element in the success of the club and the development of its young people.
