On September 27, HGL Group held a business meeting at Budapest Airport, followed by an exclusive airport tour.
This unique industry event was attended by around 50 business leaders who gained insights into current market trends and the complete process of air cargo operations and some detailed regulations. The event also featured the participation of Budapest Airport’s cargo leaders and a representative from Menzies Aviation Cargo Hungary.
The event kicked off in the SkyCourt meeting room at Budapest Airport Terminal 2, where the guests were welcomed by József Kossuth, the Cargo Director at Budapest Airport Zrt.
The meeting began with a comprehensive professional briefing, during which Adrián Palágyi, Cargo Development Manager at Budapest Airport Zrt., provided updates on the air cargo sector in Europe. Using the latest data, the expert highlighted Budapest’s strategic role, noting that from an air cargo perspective, the Hungarian airport has become a major competitor to airports in Austria and Germany.

The host of the event, Paul Szemán, not only spoke about the specifics of the logistics market but also shared insights into HGL’s corporate culture with the attendees. The company’s owner proudly noted that in recent years, HGL Group has become one of the fastest-growing Hungarian-owned companies in the international logistics market.
According to Paul Szemán, the company’s success and continuous growth are attributed to the professionalism of its employees and the fact that profits are primarily viewed as a tool for reinvesting in excellence and new solutions, focusing on quality, efficiency, and expanding the range of services provided to HGL Group’s clients.
“We see true value in people. First and foremost, in our employees, and of course, in our clients,”
said the HGL leader. He added that they are fully aware that profit and human quality go hand in hand. Therefore, they strive to ensure that their employees enjoy their profession and work with enthusiasm, as they represent the HGL brand throughout business processes. The company’s future depends on them.
Paul Szemán is convinced that the company owes much of its success to this philosophy, and this is the reason why its growing customer base can confidently rely on the high-level, cost-effective services it provides.

In the second part of the program, HGL invited the participants from the meeting table to a more informal, exclusive tour. Business leaders interested in logistics services participated in an exciting guided tour where they learned about the operation of Budapest Airport. They were given exceptional access to areas usually restricted from public view.
Participants of the event had the opportunity to observe the arrival of air cargo during peak hours, in the midst of real-time work processes. They witnessed the unloading of a massive Boeing 777F, the transportation of incoming ULDs to the warehouse, the BUP breakdown, and the entire process of air transportation.

During the tour, numerous interactions took place between the event participants and the staff and leaders of the airport and service providers, a Q&A session offered participants a chance to better understand the dynamics of the air cargo sector and the business opportunities ahead. The leaders of Budapest Airport and Menzies Aviation Cargo Hungary, with the help of HGL, were provided with a unique opportunity to meet the specific needs and current transportation challenges of the ultimate customers of air cargo services directly. They could provide immediate, relevant responses and professional recommendations, and importantly, demonstrate these in real-time operations. A valuable decision was made by an attendee with the use of an answer to an interesting question regarding the specific type of packaging needed for an important air cargo project in the planning stage.
